His rookie performances inside a new and entirely privateer Ducati team in the 2021 WorldSBK season, like the second place at the Catalunya Round, proved his talent. In 2022 and 2023 Axel become top WorldSBK Independent Rider, opening him the doors to a factory team with the KRT.

In 2024 he faced a challenging season after transitioning from the Motocorsa Racing’s Ducati to the factory Kawasaki Racing Team. Bassani struggled to adapt to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR, resulting in a 14th-place finish in the overall standings with his best performances being two top-ten finishes.

Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the young Italian will give his best on the new KB998 Rimini, which he already showed a good adaptation from the get-go on winter testing.
